This month LMD launched a ‘Bespoke’ website for local play centre and nursery business; Giggles 4 Kids.

The brief was clear – primary colours, lots of pictures and even more bubbles!

Giggles 4 Kids are a Poole based nursery and play centre (soft play) business. From the inside, the quality of care and dedication to being the best they can be for the children is clear. The equipment is plentiful and clean, the staff are smart yet lively, and there is colour everywhere. The business website prior to our work this month did not show this however, and was something that needed to be updated to reflect the offerings and standards the business had worked hard to achieve and maintain.

LMD offered a tailor made ‘Bespoke’ website at the budget and timescale Giggles wanted. It was simply then a matter of defining a flexible set of features, a simple sitemap and starting off some prototypes.

Paper Prototyping

Giggles Paper Prototype

LMD’s normal approach to prototyping is to work up something in the actual system which will become the working website. This way partners can truly see what could potentially be parts of an unpolished version of what their finished website will look like. Kirsty at Giggles however knew very clearly what see wanted and was able to describe to us well enough so that good old fashioned paper prototyping was actually the better route.

We set up a face-to-face meeting with a pad of A2, some sharpies, and a laptop. A few hours in and we had the key pages ‘scamped’ up with what was in Kirsty’s mind, mixed in with some LMD ideas of functionality and UX.

Ta-da; the beginnings of the new Giggles 4 Kids website were down and ready for coding and content!

Fancy Plugin Time

One of the things that came out of the prototyping workshop was the need for imagery to outweigh copy, at least at first glance. Kirsty wanted people to interact with the new website, not just look at it and scroll through. To make the images really come to life and to utilise maximum screen real estate, after a little research LMD decided to go for the Image Intense plugin.

There are many good visitor interaction transitioning options out-the-box plus the plugin is massively configurable; overlaying colours, resizing certain text styles are all easily achievable through the developer settings in the CMS.

The Result

Giggles - The Result

I had a clear idea of what I wanted. LMD took my dream and made it more than I could have wished for – I am ecstatic!
